Certimac is a Research and Certification Body founded in 2005 by an initiative of ENEA and CNR with the aim of making available the skills and know-how developed by the two public research entities in the field of materials and energy and to support companies in their technological innovation paths. Located in Faenza, in the heart of the C-Valley (Carbon, Composites, Ceramics), a materials innovation district, Certimac operates within an ecosystem that concentrates strategic resources for the development of Industry, Research and Innovation. In particular, it works through three divisions: Materials, Energy and Innovation and, currently, has a dedicated team of 23 staff members. Through its consolidated network and participation in research projects at regional, national and EU levels, Certimac offers specialized expertise and innovative services mainly for the Building and Construction sector, but the same expertise and facilities are also devoted to other industrial sectors and application (e.g. mechanics, automotive, automation, etc.). Its focus lies in certifying and increasing the performance of materials and processes, with particular reference to energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, safety and healthiness of products and environments. Certimac cooperates with many leading companies in Italy and abroad, leveraging its expertise to foster advancements in the industry.

Interns assignments/tasks
  • - PROFILE 1 - MATERIALS ENGINEERING SPECIALIST WITH EXPERTISE IN THERMAL EXCHANGE ISSUES: The individual will primarily be involved in three areas of activity: 1. Materials Science and Experimental Engineering: Analyzing materials, systems, and components from a thermo-physical perspective using experimental engineering test facilities required for product qualification in accordance with relevant European regulations on thermal conductivity, specific heat, and diffusivity. 2. Numerical Modeling: Analyzing complex components under steady-state and dynamic thermal exchange using Finite Element Method (FEM) models to determine the thermal behavior of prototype and/or industrial components, complementing the activities mentioned in point 1. 3. Industrial Research in the context of thermal behavior of complex materials and components and specialized technical consulting in the same field. Conducting applied research in the industrial context to support the development of innovative materials and components. Providing technical and scientific consultancy services to companies interested in the qualification of materials and systems or in the research and development of innovative components for construction. - PROFILE 2 - LABORATORY TECHNICIAN "SAFETY, SUSTAINABILITY, AND HEALTH OF PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES" WITH EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND IN THE CHEMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD (DEGREE IN INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY, CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, OR RELATED FIELDS): Specifically, the resource will primarily be involved in analytical measurement techniques (gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, HPLC, XRF) aimed at determining harmful substances released from materials and systems. These measurements are necessary to assess the compliance of products and systems with specific intended uses. This activity, carried out in the context of market services and research activities, will be complemented by participation in other experimental activities in the laboratory.
