The Instituto de Geociencias (IGEO) is a research institute co-participed by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). We are based in the campus of the UCM in downtown Madrid. We perform scientific and applied research on different fields of the Earth Sciences, including the exploration and modelization of ore deposits with special emphasis in critical raw materials. We have a long experience in different types of ore deposits but the focus today is on VMS deposits, granite-related W-Sn deposits and MtAp-IOCG systems. This research is supported by three Horizon Europe projects (EIS, AGEMERA & VECTOR), several spanish-funded projects and contracts with mining companies in Spain and Latin America. The CSIC is the largest research organization in Spain and one of the most important in Europe, covering very different disciplines and with more than 13,000 employees. It is organized in more than a hundred institutes around Spain. The IGEO is one of these institutes with more than 50 researchers and professors. Our research group (Exploration and Modelization of Ore Deposits, ExMODE) currently includes three researchers and four PhD students.
