The Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, ICTP, of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, CSIC, is a public research organization belonging to the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The ICTP is located in the Centre for Organic Chemistry “Lora-Tamayo”, close to the central offices of the CSIC in Madrid.
The objective of the ICTP is the scientific and technological advancement of polymeric materials through research and development, at the service of Spanish society. This objective is pursued through the following activities: i)research projects and contracts, ii) education and training of personnel, iii) dissemination of scientific information, and iv) technical support.
The Institute of Polymer Science and Technology received its present name in 1987, however the origins of the Institute date back to 1947, within the "Juan de la Cierva" Scientific and Technical Research Patronage of the CSIC. Research in polymers in Spain started in the ICTP.
