Motivation letter (max. 1500 characters with spaces)

I am writing to express my interest in the internship positions offered by the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, CSIC-ICTP and the CSIC-Instituto de Estructura de la Materia in the summer of 2024. Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in Advanced Materials: Innovative Recycling (Erasmus Mundus-EIT AMIR) program with a background in materials science and engineering. This gives me a strong theoretical foundation in polymers, applied physics, microstructure analysis, coupled with hands-on experience in materials manufacturing and testing techniques. This is in accordance with the requirements of these esteemed institutes which makes me a strong candidate for the offered positions. For my bachelor thesis, I worked on the manufacturing, testing and characterization of alumina modified carbon phenolic composites. This experience was extremely rewarding as a materials engineer as I gained practical experience with vacuum bagging, compression molding, SEM, EDS, and TG analysis as well as mechanical testing. A testament to my abilities as an able engineer and researcher is a review and a research article that I published during this course. The AMIR master program has further advanced my development as an engineer and a professional. I have had the opportunity to work in culturally and academically diverse teams both in and out of the lab to pave way for a sustainable world through resource efficiency, and modern manufacturing and recycling methods. I am excited about the prospect of working at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, CSIC-ICTP and the CSIC-Instituto de Estructura de la Materia to collaborate with multi-cultural and cross functional teams to come up with efficient solutions to engineering problems in the way of a sustainable world. My particular interest is to explore the realm of 3D printed fiber reinforced composites for advanced applications. I am eager to start this journey with this internship opportunity. In conclusion, I wish to express my sincere appreciation for your time and consideration. I welcome the opportunity to engage in further discussions regarding the potential contributions I would be able to make towards the development and innovation of advanced composite materials for high-end applications. Best regards, Mohammad Sanan Ali
